Brief Description:  Vertical Stabilizer Adjustment

I got a little more done today on the vertical stab. I spoke with Bob Barrows about some questions I had reference the profiled ribs I’m making for the vertical stab and we got talking about the alignment. Bob told me the best would be to align the top of the stab with the fuselage centerline and the bottom gets the 3/4in offset. I had aligned the front spar with the tail post, but now I see it will probably have a tiny bit of left offset at the top when viewed from the front. I’m assuming this will help compensate for the increased lift generated by the profiled tail. He said if I just aligned it with the tail post I would have to hold a bit of left rudder in flight or adjust the trim tab (if installed). So I cut the tack welds and moved the top of the stab just a bit as Bob suggested.

I have some form blocks for the stab ribs from Pat Fagan, but they are just a bit too short. I got the templates and traced them out on some oak and will make the adjustments as necessary to make them fit. I'll take a day off tomorrow and maybe get started again on Sunday forming the two remaining ribs.
