Brief Description: Making Elevator Trim Belcranks
Boy, this was another one of those "simple" projects that took awhile. First, I wanted to drill the hole for the bolt that holds the trim horn to the tube, but I didn't have any way to make sure it was in the center. So, I made up a vee block with a centering hole so I could drill in the center of tubing all the way through without any offset. That took awhile. Then I cut out a set of plates, made bushings, drilled them and welded and I didn't like the way they turned out. So, I made another set. This time I was happy with them. Man, if I ever build another Bearhawk, it will only take half the time!
The holes for the drive tube bolts are offset a little so they can be removed/torqued with the other bolts in place. I saw Eric Newton did this on his project and it made sense. No particular degrees, maybe 25to 30, and the bolts are still pointed down.
