Brief Description:  Alternator Cooling Duct? Not needed!

One of the installation notes on my Plane Power AL12-EI60B said to provide cooling air via a 1in scat tube. Van’s forums has tons of ideas and I spent WAY too much time fussing with this. I wanted to mount a 1in AL flange, make a cover, etc. for the back. I was really undecided as to the best path to go forward so I called Hartzell (they bought Plane Power) and asked them what was the best way. They asked what I was building and I told them a Bearhawk. The tech guy said the RV aircraft have some challenges with their cowling and that was the primary audience for the note. They said with my cowling configuration I should be just fine without it. So, five hours down the tube, but I did learn something!
