Brief Description: More Welding Practice Needed!
Today was rather frustrating. No, wait, REALLY frustrating!!! I had welded the seam closed on the station M cross tube and wasn't satisfied at ALL with the weld, so I decided to do some DT and practice some more. The cross tube has to be welded before the other tubes are fit to it. For whatever reason, I could not draw a straight bead to save my life. I was overheating the tube, even though I had the smallest tip I had on my torch, it was popping, blowing through...you name it. I'm no doubt a beginner, but I had practiced a fair bit before and didn't have near the problems I'm having now.
I decided to just tack the cut in the new cross tube for now and fit the other tubes to it. I can keep going with fitting other stuff and practice some more. Then, when I'm more satisfied with the quality of my welding I'll come back and finish weld it.
I look at the welding books and see those fabulous welds that others have done an am in awe. All I need is practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, and practice,
