Brief Description:  Cleaning the crank Part 2

The brush in the drill motor worked really slick, as did the scraping tool I made. I turned on the radio, got comfortable and took my time with the brush and scraper. II would scrape with WD-40 as lubricant, then flush with brake cleaner. I repeated this about 5 times before I was satisfied it was as clean as I could get it. I was very careful cleaning around the oil tube! I flushed it one more time with brake cleaner, then I used a high quality lint-free pad and scrubbed as best I could using the tip of the long screwdriver to wipe the inside. One more flush with brake cleaner, then I hit it with some compressed air. It turned out really nice, There are pits from rust in the plug, but it's clean.

After I was satisfied it was the way I wanted it, I stood it up on an engine stand, put in a couple of bolts and sprayed it everywhere with LPS-3. It will be there until the solvent in the LPS-3 evaporates. Then, I'll put the bag back over the crank and put it back in the box it came in, ready for when I put the engine together.
