Brief Description:  Getting an Engine Part 2

So, after spending gobs of money, lots of hours emailing and on the phone and almost $1k in shipping, my motor finally arrived in many boxes the last week in July and the first week in August. The parts were done right and all the work by Aircraft Specialties Services, Firewall Forward and Divco looks first class. I have to admit, everyone I worked with at these companies was very pleasant to deal with and were very patient with me. I told them I was a novice and wasn't going to play the big-shot like I knew what was going on. They would have figured it out anyway and they good-naturedly answered all my questions. Believe, me, there were MANY. I also bent Bob Barrows ear quite a bit as well. The guy is amazing. He rebuilds aircraft engine for a living and helped me out like a life-long friend.

With the major work done, the rest of the accessories will be repaired/reconditioned by me or sent out to have done. Some of the accessories I wasn’t going to use anyway. I’m going with a lightweight alternator and starter and probably going to replace one of my Shower of Sparks mags with an impulse mag. I have to admit, looking at all those parts I sometimes feel like a caveman looking at fire for the first time. But, I have had quite a bit of experience in my younger years rebuilding automotive engines and I was a turbine engine mechanic in the Army as well, so the basic principals apply and I’m familiar with those. I also have a lot of good help to rely on as well, so it will be fun.
