Brief Description:  Air Intake Part 4

I wanted to vacuum bag the intake, but I hadn’t done a vacuum bag layup since my modeling days many years ago. I started on a flat table covered with vinyl tape. I did the standard prep stuff with the mold and laid up the cloth. I laid the backing material over the mold, turned on the pump and….it didn’t pull down! I had a leak somewhere. I panicked, not knowing how long I had to go before it set. I didn’t know at the time, but since I used extra-slow hardener I literally had hours to fuss with it. I couldn’t get the cover sorted out, so I got some fresh bagging material in the form of a tube and closed off the ends. That worked perfectly, but it didn’t give me the flange I wanted had the table idea succeeded. The next day I released it from the bag, took off all the breather cloth and peel-ply and I had a very nice part.
