Brief Description:  Bottom Stringers Part 1

After being done for too long tending to family matters, I finally am back in the shop for a little bit.

I need to start on the bottom stringers, but need a good way to bend the 1 inch by 5/16ths extruded aluminum material in a controlled way. If you try to put a bend in the stuff unsupported, it will flop left or right and is kind of hard to be consistent. I came up with this bending jig. It's basically two pieces of flat stock with to polished fulcrums top and bottom. The top is adjustable so the size of the bend area can be adjusted and the curved shapes allow for a consistent bend point. I got the idea for the slide from an old slide rule I found when going through my dad’s things. The end is open so the entire length of the stringer material can be formed. It should work great!
