Brief Description:  Door Thresholds Part 16

I decided to make swing up doors for the airplane. The problem is if you make the door the length per the plans, the bottom of the door will hit the wing strut. Gavin Chester gave me this approach to the thresholds. He welded in another tube making the threshold 2 inches higher than the original. That will give the clearance necessary to clear the wing strut. One other thing he did that I noticed in his pictures is he made a bit of a dogleg in that tube so it follows the natural contour of the fuselage in that area. I did that as well. I made spacer blocks 1 1/4inches high and hot glued them to the bottom tube to hold them in place. This helped a LOT in fitting the tube since the dogleg needed to remain level and parallel to the bottom tube. It also insured the tube was exactly 2 inches abouve the normal threshold. Once the tubes were fit and tacked, I removed the blocks and there was no glue residue.
