Brief Description:  Wing Topcoat Part 5

Now it’s time to figure out how the trim paint will look. I put on the wingtip for the final shape and then started exploring spacing for the amount of blue on the leading edge and the width of the accent stripe using my paint scheme three-view as a guide. I soon figured out the wingtip on the three-view doesn’t match the actual shape. If I were to include the three-view blue trim tip shape on the real thing there would be way too much blue toward the tip. So I made the trim stripe a bit more parallel to the tip and made the turn at the tip a little closer to the leading edge. Once I had it pretty much nailed down for measurements I bought a roll of blue gift wrapping and made a mockup of the actual area, just to make sure it “looked” ok. I really like the result and made templates of the curve and made note of the measurements. Time to mask the area and spray!
