Brief Description: Firewall Station Part 4

Well, the saga is finally over...at least I thought. After all that I went through last weekend (weekend for me, anyway) I was going to start on the tail diagonals and work forward. I happened to look at the plans for tubing specs and saw that I put in the wrong wall thickness of tubing for the firewall horizontal tubes! So, being THOROUGHLY discouraged, I cut out the tacked tubing and stopped for the week.
I am glad that this happened, though because it gave rise to some questions about firewall angle vs motor mount vs motor and the solution. In a nutshell, I ended up with almost 3 inches of tilt to make the motor mount fit. That is a lot. After emailing the Bearhawk group and talking to Bob, I found where the problem was. It was actually a combination of things. The 2.5 inches tilt actually works out to be 5.6 deg using trig and a true 6 deg (as specified) is ~ 2.7 inches. Also, the motor and the way it bolts up to the mount accounted for about 0.4 deg difference as well. So, taking a blessing in disguise, I took the opportunity to put a true 6 deg in the firewall for the motor mount.
