Once the verticals were cool, I was able to fit the horizontal tube for the bottom of the instrument panel. Before I installed the OSB, I drew pencil lines to establish the horizontal centerline of the tube as this was also the line that was the apex of the dog-leg verticals. I put in a couple of blocks and put a 1/16 spacer on the blocks. The cross tube is 3/4 and the vertical is 7/8ths, so I needed to centerl the horizontal tube.
Once I fit the tube, I checked it for level, then tack welded it in place. Once everything cooled, I took apart the jig and voila, all done and aligned as it should be.
I'll stress again that I am not an anal freak that frets over a 1/64 here and there, but I have to admit my attention to accuracy is still paying off on everything fitting together and being symmetrical. A straight plane will fly straight.
