Brief Description:  Tail Post Part 4

This is the first mechanical connection of the fuselage halves and an actual vertical piece, so it's a big day!

I went back and double-checked the measurements before I committed myself to the tack welds on the longerons. I didn't like the bracing on the jig as it allowed too much movement side to side, so I moved a few pieces and it really got rigid. I placed the wood spacers on the tail post and using them as a gage, I clamped the longerons to the tail post using the tubing clamps I constructed earlier. These sure have come in very handy!!!

After I was sure it was correct, I double-checked the measurements and the post for plumb in both axis. Then, I tacked the longerons in place. After I was through, I heated the ends of the tubs and tapped the ends down for a snug fit. Now it's on to the vertical fuselage tubes.
