After wrangling and procrastinating, I finally got the nerve to weld up the tube at Station M. I practiced for about an hour with more scrap tubing and finally got consistently good welds. I was battling with my regulators as well because they are prone to creeping while welding, but I kept a good eye out for any problems and it went smooth. If I was welding a lot, it would get extremely annoying.
I jigged the cross tube in a tubing clamp that I had made earlier and put it in a vise. I then had a good place to weld it shut. I took a deep breath and just welded the darn thing. It turned out acceptable. The weld is inside a cluster, so it will never be seen, but it was a good weld.
I then checked the alignment of the tubing peak and it was right on, so I tacked in place. The second picture makes it look like it's a little off, but it's how I held the camera from the side of the table.
After that was tacked in place, I was able to fit and tack in the remaining diagonals. Station M is conquered! On to the tail post....
