Brief Description:  Getting ready to drill oil holes

It's been a busy few days, but I was able to sneak into the shop this evening for a few hours in the man cave.

I marked all the places that tubing intersects at the longerons and cross tubes using my welding pencil and made sure all the tubes were clearly marked where they go. I then took out all the tubing and left the longerons in place. Before I start drilling into the longerons and tubing, I trried out a technique that I saw for making oil passage holes in 4130 tubing:

I took a piece of 3/4 x .049 tubing (same as the longeron) and tried it out. It didn't work out too well for me as you can see from the picture. So, I'm glad I wasn't there blowing holes into my longerons and making them look like like swiss cheese. I spent the last time in the shop deburring and cleaning the ends of the tubing before I tack weld everything together. I knocked the burrs off with a large round file, Then, I used a light touch with a 3M bristle disc in my angle grinder on the ends of the tubing and it worked really slick Tomorrow, I'll slug through drilling the holes for the tubing oil in the places I marked.
