Brief Description:  Windshield Backing Strips Part 1

Another punch list item before I remove the windshield and store it away is the backing strip of aluminum. This keeps the windshield in place and tight against the fairing, helping to keep the seal around the bottom edge. I have ZERO access to 3003 aluminum in Alaska, so I just used some .032 2024T3 in small chunks…five to be exact. It was a challenge to get them right, shrinking some places, stretching in others. 2024T3 is not a formable alloy, but it can be coaxed a bit and that’s all I needed for the short pieces. There was LOTS of trial and error in the beginning. Luckily I have an abundant supply of cutoff pieces to practice with!
