Brief Description:  Cable Trim System Part 17

The last thing to do was solve the problem of the cables rubbing on the elevator spar and keeping the elevator cables away from the elevator control cables. For the first issue, I took some 3/8ths tubing, put a bend in it and cut it in half. I positioned it on the elevator and tacked it in place. The placement of this piece is critical! It has to align just so…the cable has to miss the fabric on the elevator and exit the elevator in a semi-neutral sweep so when the elevator goes up and down the cable doesn’t have a stress point. I also welded a couple of nubs on the end so the safety wire holding the cable in place won’t slip off. The last part was to control the cable between the elevator and the front cable mount. I did that by making a spreader bar and using springs for vibration and directional control. It worked really well! The trim system is done and the results are on this video I made for YouTube: https://youtu.be/zJiWSkgq8kI

I'll add a couple of 1/16th check cables when I install it for good in case one of the springs fail.
