I didn’t like the way the cable went through the rib, so I welded in a short piece of 1/2in tubing to act as sort of a conduit through the rib. It will also help direct the sweep of the cable and I can cushion it much better than a simple grommet. This will be in the covered elevator and I won’t be able to inspect it, so all that I can do to make it secure is fine with me. The tubing will also strengthen the rib.
