Next, I made a lip out of .032 4130A that the forward part of the pan slides into and the fabric can be tucked inside. I used a piece of .062 scrap to set the gap. That allows .032 for the skin itself and about .030 for any paint/fabric. Once that was done, I welded the square tubing in place, then tacked and skip welded the lip to the square tubing. One thing to remember on the lip. I placed it so it was flush to the stringers and the longerons so any fabric would make a smooth transition.
