Nice break from the wings, back on the doors. After I got the parts that hold the door mechanism welded in place, all that is left to do on the left door is fab and weld up the ends on the rods and make it work! Nothing much technical here. I welded in the top and bottom rod bushings into the door frame. Once that was done I welded the flat tabs on the ends of the 1/4in rods and made holes in the U-channel for the rods to pass through. BUT, what was next I thought would be easy, turned into a BUNCH of fussing and fiddling. Namely, fitting the rods to the mechanism and making it work smooth. What a chore! Just a millimeter or two separated binding up to a smooth, just falling in place fit. The bottom rod was hard enough, but the top rod took quite a bit. I even ended up putting a Z-bend in the door lever to make the geometry just right. All in all, it’s done and done right. On to the right side door…
