Brief Description:  Wing Attach Fittings Part 14 - Not so final

Since I realized the wing fittings have to be finish welded before the skylight is added on, I decided to try to mitigate any movement caused by welding by fabricating a jig to try and keep the wing fittings moving. I milled some 5/8ths steel plate down to the thickness needed for a tight slip fit into the fittings and cut it into four pieces. I also got some 1 inch by 1/8th inch square tubing to weld in between the plate to hold the wing fittings in the proper place. The most important dimension is the spar spacing, so that it what I’m trying to protect. In effect I’m trying to fabricate a rigid jig for the fittings. We’ll see if it’s effective…
