Boy, what a learning experience today. I'll post most of what I did on the next log entry, but I have to share a BFO, or "Blinding Flash of the Obvious". I went ahead and tacked the front fittings in, thinking that would be ok and fit the rear. WRONG! I’ll tell you why. The front fitting is one piece and it is welded in place, wherever it ends up. The rear fittings are two piece (technically five) and are tacked in place straddling the ¾ inch vertical tube. If it is off by even a smidge, it doesn’t straddle the tube in the center, affecting the fit of the wing mounts. The easiest way to do the mounts (using the wings as a jig) is to bolt the front fittings on, fit the rear fittings and move the wings as necessary and then tack the front. Lesson learned…
