I have to admit, my brain hurts a bit after today. I decided to leave the front mounts as-is and remake the other bits. My idea of drilling out the front attach points to the final size of 3/8ths and favoring the inside, gaining back the 1/8th inch won’t work. After I thought about it a bit, I would have to drill the spar holes straight on and in effect I would only be gaining 1/16th of an inch either side. Also, I would have to go back through the whole wing alignment process. The time I would spend readjusting the fitting to the final drill size and fiddling with the wings would probably be the same as making the new parts. Also, in effect I would only be halfway to my desired recovery of the ¼ inch. I decided I’m going with option three, welding it as is and making new parts. Besides, adding a little more space in that area isn’t a bad thing at all.
