Brief Description:  Wing Attach Fittings Part 2

Ok, now how to move the table without screwing everything up? The table has been here for years and hasn’t moved! I used my scale drawing and marked on the floor where the table should end up. After reinforcing the sides and cleaning up the stuff underneath that had accumulated over the years, I took two hydraulic car floor jacks and lifted up each main section just a bit to clear the floor. I then pushed and pulled until the table was in position and lowered it back down. It sounds easy, but it took a lot of prep work. It wasn’t really easy moving by myself with two jacks going in a semi-same direction, but I got it done.

The floor is sloped ever so slightly to favor the drain in the middle of the floor and I had to do a lot of sliding and crawling on the shop floor with a couple of wrenches to get the 12 table legs set right. I used an accurate laser level and set the top dead-level and checked it with a digital level. Perfect.

Once that was done, I rechecked the fuselage alignment and after a bit of futzing it was good too. I borrowed a friend’s wing stand (Rob Taylor) and modified it a bit to fit my new layout. Now all I have to do is make one more stand for the other side and set the wings. YAY!!!
