Brief Description:  Wing Attach Fittings Part 1

Well, I finally got to it. After thinking about all the different things I needed to do on the project, it all came back to why I set the fuselage on the table to begin with. I need to fit the wing attach fittings. I wanted to do the stringers. but the top stringers need the top structures. The top structures need to be fitted to the wing profile. The wings need to be in place to set the profile, but the structure needs to be welded in place before finish welding the wing attach points. So that’s what I’m going to do, set the wings and tack the fittings in place. Then fabricate and weld the other stuff in place and then finish weld the wing fittings. Simple enough.

But trying to find the most effective way wasn’t easy. I thought about this off and on for the past few weeks and decided to move the jig table from its present position to a place where both wings would fit. I made a scale drawing of my shop floor along with a scale BH and just played with it. I thought about how I would get around it, what I would have to move and if I could still get a vehicle in if I had to work on it. I came up with this configuration. Continued…
