Brief Description:  Door Thresholds Part 8

I got back on the project today after being busy with other stuff for a few weeks. I wanted to put plate nuts on the boot cowl former. The problem is I have never put one in or even used my riveting tools I have accumulated. It took quite a bit of fiddling, but once I figured out what sets to use, how much to countersink and the proper rivet size it went really easy. I used the NAS1097 rivet, called the "oops" rivet by some. I got most of the info I needed from an RV builder's site. If anyone has experience with rivets and plate nuts, these guys do.

I practiced on a scrap piece. The alligator squeezer needed a little finesse to get a good set. It was really easy to upset the tail of the rivet to one side or the other...alignment had to be just right. I tried out my normal squeezer and found that to be the simplest. It was a good session overall and learned quite a bit. The finished product will be nice.
