Brief Description: Design, fabricate the mounting bracket for the MU1
After reviewing where most people have mounted their magnometer in the RV-8. It looks like I have two choices outer wing mount or rear fuselage. Nether place actually meets the minimums listed for distance from servos/motors 10' and large ferrous metals like landing gear 8'. This includes the 3' from cable lines and electrical lines. After reviewing my options I've decied to put the Magnometer on the 809 bulkhead. I designed a bracket, as seen online, for the top of the bulkhead. This should give me a place that is mounted flat in level flight and easily oriented to the forward/aft and port/starboard directions required. Fabricated the bracket from the .032 alclad coated pieces. Cut, bent, and deburred the bracket. Clamped the bracket to the 809 bulkhead and match drilled the two exisitng holes from the bulkhead into the bracket. Then clecoed the bracket to the bulkhead and match drilled the bracket holes (previously drilled) into the bulkhead. I set the rivets for the 470-4-4 in 6 locations. Finished deburring the holes in both the bracket and bulkhead.
