Brief Description:  Shipped

Received an email from Sonex that my kit has shipped. Con-Way will haul it to the Seattle area and then a freight forwarder, The Alaska Traffic Company (ATC), will complete the ocean shipping portion. Unfortunately, ATC offers only the most minimal of insurance so I've arranged supplemental insurance via Ramon Int. for a surprisingly reasonable price. They are an international shipping insurer backed by Lloyds of London. I hope this isn't one of those cases where going with the low bidder comes back to bite you. Fingers crossed.

Anyway... Con-Way tells me they will have it in Seattle by 10/22/08. Seems like a long time but what can you do. ATC ships on Wed. and Fridays. You must have it to them a day ahead. If it ships Wed then you can P/U on the Following Tuesday. If ships on Friday, then P/U is on the following Thursday.

Waiting is no fun at all.

10/23/08 update:
It made it to Renton WA (outside Seattle) on Sunday the 19th in the late evening. Con-Way had it to ATC -also in Renton less than 1 mile away- on 10/22 as promised. It appears that it got there one hour past the deadline to go out that night. Never the less, it should be on a Horizon Lines container ship on Friday10/24 and then ready for me to P/U the following Thrusday.

Supplemental insurance was no big deal at all; $49.00 total for $16,500.00 coverage. Hope I don't need it.
