Today is the day I officially placed my Sonex order. Makes me more than a bit nervous to invest this much money in such a thing. Never the less, I'm very excited.
I have also ordered hardware kits from Wicks. Do not yet know what the shipping is going to be for that but I am expecting it to not be pretty. Still think it's cheaper than trying to buy locally.
I am told that it will take between 3-4 weeks before my (future) Sonex goes out the door. Shipping to Alaska is horribly expensive and so I have made arrangements for a freight forwarder to take possesion of the kit in the Seattle area. So, it will be shipped conventionally from Oshkosh via Con-Way and then transported via "Steamship" through The Alaska Traffic Company. All in all it may be two weeks from it's departure from Sonex Aircraft. Projected cost is around $1300.00; much better than the approximate $2800.00 for conventional shipping.
