This took significant time. The mount has a somewhat "loose" fit and is designed so that you shim it into correct placement. Needed varying thickness shims; fabricated x 4 (etched and alodined). The bottom attach angles need to be ground down so that they do not interfere with the gear legs and so that the mount seats properly; this is a well documented issue and the plans recommend removing as much material as it takes. You can see in Picture one that it took a good deal. Very time consuming.
The mount is secured with 1/4 countersunk screws- had to go out an buy an appropriately sized countersink cutter.
The bottom most screws require a shorter screw as the called for material contacts the gearleg retaining tubes.
The real bear, however, is actually getting your fingers in there to start the nut/washer on the screw. This took several HOURS!. Tried every trick I knew to get it started. Ultimately, I superglued the washer to the nut and was able to finally get the pair in place. Sometimes the smallest thing can set you so far behind.
