Three weeks vacation that included a week at Oshkosh, 24 hours flying the Patrol and 23 hours flying the Bearhawk (including flying both from Texas to Oshkosh and back) has provided some serious motivation!
I organized the shop and made a punch list of "to do" items. The first on the list is the entry step. As much time as I've spent around Bearhawks the last few weeks now I wish I had taken some measurements. There isn't any guidance on length or placement of the tubes for the step. I decided that 5" looked about right for the streamline tube for the step. For the arm I cut the 1" x .049" tube 10" long.
I fabricated both steps then had to decide the position to place them. Looking at pictures of other Bearhawks I tried matching the location as much as possible. The first point I tacked it I didn't like so I ended up moving it down a little. I ended up tacking it about 8" below the longeron and that seems about right.
