"I put together a simple rotisserie on the firewall using some scrap 2x4. For now I'm going to just use a saw horse at the tail then after I weld a couple stations I'll add a rotisserie to the tail. Starting at the tail and moving forward I started welding the clusters. I started at the tail post bottom and that was a pain. There's a pretty good variation in tubing wall sizes and the tight working angle it's bit challenging.
I guess it takes 40-50 hours to weld the fuselage and I can see it's going to take me at least that long. It's going to be a while. It took me all day to get to station H-J. By the end of the day my tanks had run down quit a bit and the thought hit me that, ""I'm going to need a bigger tank!"" I ran down to the welding supply store and picked up a second setup.
I can see that it's a good idea to start at the back and move forward. Even after a lot of practice my welds aren't pretty but I'm getting good penetration. By the last cluster weld at station H-J my welds are looking better."
