Brief Description: Aileron gussets and skin to spar
I cut out all of the gussets and deburred the edges. I marked them all clearly since it would be easy to mix them up. The gussets over the hinge area are the same shape but different material thickness. I wasn't sure if the hinge gussets had flanges because it didn't show it on the plans. Eric Newton confirmed that he added flanges to his. I bent all the flanges in the gussets.
I secured one of the ailerons to the table flat and square. I used a different method for squaring up the back ribs this time. I clamped a straight edge to the table parallel to the spar and aft of the aileron then squared the rib off the straight edge. This worked a lot better than trying to square off the spar or drawing square lines on the table.
I predrilled the gussets for the top then drilled and clecoed them into position. The top of one of the ailerons is completely drilled – now I’ll move on to the next one.
