Brief Description:  Rivet left main spar capstrips

Success! I riveted the left main spar capstrips and it went very well. I only had to drill out one rivet when I slipped and gouged the manufactured head. I have a couple minor smiley's that I decided to leave. They aren't really noticeable. I still got a couple upside down mushroom heads on the shop heads so I'll wait to see what a tech counselor recommends.

I am a little gun shy so I used a plastic cap on the rivet gun that I got from Brown Tool Supply. These work very well. There was a couple times that I bounced and could have left a tool mark on the capstrip but it didn't. I'll keep a good supply of these on hand and use them as standard practice. One layer of tape and the plastic cap works very well.

Right spar - new capstrips on order. I've decided to replace the capstrips on the right side. I've drilled out too many rivets at this point for my comfort. It kept me awake one night and I've decided that I'm not going to let something bothering me keep me awake at night. I'd probably be okay but I had to ask myself will this spar be perfect? In my mind it wouldn't be unless I replace the spar caps. Now after setting the rivets on the left spar I know I made the right decision.

I've drilled out all remaining rivets in the right spar. I took the time to carefully remove the rivets so as to not enlarge the holes in the spar web. The spar webs look good.
