Brief Description:  Mylar wing form & master form block

Two and a half years after receiving the plans I woke up this morning and decided, "This is the day." I had set a goal for myself to start 3 years to the day after Eric Newton started (www.mybearhawk.com). When I looked at his website today I realized I was 2 days behind! I knew it was time to start.

I've been planning for this day so I did have everything I needed to get started. I pulled out the plans and rolled out page 7, the mylar wing pattern. As I started cutting it out with scissors I wasn't sure if maybe I had too much coffee because I was shaking as I tried to cut the full size mylar wing form exactly on the line. I actually had to stop and breath a couple times too. I didn't realize that it would be such a moment but it did seem to me that this was the moment I had always anticipated and when I would always remember that the construction of Bearhawk #733 began. The dream began several years ago but the journey officially begins today...

I'm using 3/4 inch MDF for the master form. I applied some spray adhesive to the back of the mylar and positioned it on the board. I marked the outside line and all the spar locations. I drilled a small 1/16 inch hole for the jig pin locations and lightening hole center locations. I used a jig saw to cut about 1/8 inch outside the line. I then sanded right to the line with a bench sander and routed all edges to a 1/16 radius.
