Brief Description:  LG shock struts part 3

I welded the cuffs on the bottom of the cylinders then started working on the bottom of the strut. Actually it was easier to fit the bottom than I expected. I was concerned about cutting off too much but it took one cut after marking then grinding off about 1/8". I tack welded the bottom of the strut to the bushing in place. Then I pulled everything off and welded the bushing on. Getting the 15 deg twist was a little tricky. I found it worked best to heat and twist with the parts bolted on the airplane. It looks pretty ugly until you weld the strap and end cover on. I kept taking the parts off for welding but made frequent checks to make sure it still fit. I used a piece of clear plastic sheet to trace the pattern directly from the strut for the side pieces to finish off the bottom.

The first strut came out pretty good. Next one should be even easier.
