Brief Description:  Wingtip fitting 3

Countersunk the tips and pop-riveted the tip-side hinges in place. Intially, I used solid rivets, but I didn't like how the attachment went together. This rivets would have been very visible after painting. I removed the solid rivets, counter sunk the tips a bit below flush, and used flat head pop rivets to attach the hinges.

I installed the tip with the hinge pins and fond that the aft 1/3 of the tip sagged visibly in the span wise direction - this is the flattest section of the tip. Perhaps, since the tip was not a continuous piece of glass becasue of the hinge, a moment that would have encouraged a flatter top surface was absent. To counteract this, I glassed on some mixing sticks as stiffeners (think sail battens) with epoxy and one layer of glass on top; clamped flat while curing. This lightweight fix signficntly improved the flatness of the tip in this region. A little filler on top will take us home.
