Brief Description: Bending elevator trailing edges
Built up the bending brake to bend the trailing edges of the elevators. The lumber yard guys were really helpful to find the straightest 2x6x10' they had in the pile. Per the posts on VAF, I put a 1/8" welding rod up against the trailing edge and did the bending. Ooof! It takes alot of force to bend this baby down; I had to add a lever (a 2x4, 3' long) to help form the edge. I did the best I could with the rod in place, then pulled the rod and gave it a bit of an extra bend. The end product looks great .. straight and sharp. The 1/8" rod prevented over-bending; the little extra tweak was just a bit of delta from the best I could do with the rod.
Straightned the flanges and fluted the ribs, prepping for the next stage of assembly.
