This afternoon I started the tail surface installation. First thing I had to do was to remove the tail temporary mount that had been supporting the tail section. I spent some time going through the plans and sorting out what needed to be done. I had to trim some off of the leading edge skin on both sides of the horizontal stabilizer to make everything fit correctly. I am now ready to drill the four mounting holes.
Please note! This is what I learned after completing the installation. View "A" of the plans shows to have the rear spar 3 1/4 inch from the tail. This is a critical measurement to make before drilling the mounting holes for the horizontal stabilizer. This will help prevent elevator control horn rubbing issues.
