Brief Description:  Midwest Sonex Fly-in

Had a great day at the 2011 Midwest Sonex Fly-in! Thanks Bob, Ted, Charlie, and Gus for organizing this event! I even got to meet Jeff Schultz, a Sonex builder whose web site I had followed and helped inspired me to build a Sonex. The rainy weather we had been having cleared and made for a really nice day. They had five Sonex and about twenty other Sonex enthusiast show up for the fly-in. They put on some builder demonstrations and had door prize drawings. At lunch time a few of the current builders and I got a ride in a Sonex to a nice airport cafe at Miami County airport. It was great to be able to get my first flight in a Sonex. I got a chance to take the stick for some flight time on the way back from Miami County. The Sonex fly’s great and it almost feels like the plane is part of you when you are flying it. The stick has a firm feel and fly's like what you would think a fighter jet would feel like. I could tell that it might take a little time to get accustom to it, but once you did it would be a blast to fly. I learned a lot and picked up quite a few tips from the other builders. I came away with a lot of ideas and I am looking forward to getting back to work my Sonex.
