Brief Description:  Took a break to go flying

What a beautiful day to go flying. I scheduled the plane for 9:00am and there was no one scheduled before me. I arrived at 8:30 and it was a good thing I did as they were planning to close the airport from 9:00 - 10:00am for a special event that was taking place. I was really going to have to hurry to get off by 9:00. I really don't like to rush the preflight inspection checklist and was defiantly feeling the pressure when a guy drove by on a golf cart and said you better get a move on. I tried not to feel rushed, but I was. Another two guys sat in another golf cart and watched also. Nothing like having an audience too. Brian, a friend of mine that I met during flight training, was scheduled to come out and go with me. It was about 8:50 and no sign of Brian yet. I really had no time to call and let him know about the time crunch. I got in the plane, buckled in, ran down the check list, got the ATIS, and contacted the tower and was cleared to taxi to 34. By now it was 8:55. I was about to start taxiing when Brian came running out of the terminal. With the engine running, Brian jumped in, buckled up and off we went to meet the 9:00 departure. I think Brian might have been breathing hard. I know I was! Setting at the hold short line of 34, I did a final check of the checklist, contacted the tower and was cleared for 34. Our wheels no sooner left the runway and the tower contacted ground control and closed the runway. I guess you could say this 9:00 am departure was on time. :)

We had a great flight over to Siloam Springs where I had planned to go do some pattern work. I worked on some short and soft field landing as well as a few normal touch and goes. We landed and got out to watch some para shooter jump. The air was so calm and clear you could hear the jumper screaming and hollering as they came down. Looked like they were having fun!

We headed back to Fayetteville about 10:30 and contacted Drake tower and was cleared for 16. Controller requested that we expedite a strait in app
