Brief Description:  Glassing horizontal stabilizer

Today I tried my first fiberglass layup. I must say that it is not rocket science. Everything went just as I planned due to research and ensuring everything was laid out and ready to go. I started by laying some 4 mil builders plastic over the stabilizer. I drew a line with a sharpie about an inch beyond the edges. I cut out the outside layer of 1.5 oz fiberglass as one continous sheet then I cut two pieces of KR cloth with a slight overlap for the leading edge. The cloth was wet out on top of the plastic just enough so it wasn't shiny and I could see the lines draw below. Then I mixed very dry micro (the consistancy of cool whip) and filled in some gaps and gouges in the foam. Runny micro (1:1) was then mixed and used to seal the foam. After the foam was sealed, I layed the fiberglass on, squeegeed it through the plastic, removed the plastic and squeegeed it one more time. After everything looked good, I trimmed the edges to within a half an inch.
