Brief Description:  Installed aluminum ground plane

Cut aluminum to match cardboard pattern. Removed GPS antenna (so I could run bolts and wires through ground plane. Had to cut wires and add connector). Attached ground plane with sheet metal screws (sanded down so the won't stick through fuselage which is about 1/4" thick on the top). Used drill with drill stop to drill holes. Removed ground plane to drill out holes larger than threads and re-installed. Used full size sheet metal screw to create threads in hole being careful not to go through fuselage. Removed screw and then installed shorter sanded screws to hold ground plane. This also makes an electrical connection to carbon fiber which is conductive. I question the need for a ground plane with carbon fiber but could not find anything definitive on the subject and Pipistrel uses a second aluminum ground plane so I decided to do the same. Carbon fibre is more resistive than the aluminum so I figured the screws at the periphery would penetrate the fuselage and connect the carbon fibre electrically to the aluminum which woudl lower the reisistance to the antenna ground. Tested the com radio and it seams to work well.
