Brief Description:  Nicopress - control cable

Thankfully caught what I was doing wrong before making too many cables up.I had bought the Nicopress crimper at the big box store (mistake #1). Next mistake was to actually use it to crimp (mistake #2). Not using a Nicopress gage to confirm proper sizing (Mistake #3) AC43.13 has the correct crimp order of 3-1-2 for 1/8" cable. Each crimp has to have a nice distinct area between the next one. Each of mine overlapped, giving on big crimp area. Not good. Also learned via a odd little footnote... Galvanized Aircraft Cable should only have zinc platted nicopress terminals installed. There are plain copper and tin plate, but used for other cable (i.e. stainless). For Galvanized cable, just use zinc plated. I'm a little nervous about a bad cable connection. $17 tool from ACS has arrived and crimps look good. Slow work, but much rather pass the gage and know they are correct. Time to put the big crimper on eBay?
