Brief Description:  Flap Actuator

I came to the conclusion that I would prefer having an electrically actuated flap system.
I decided to source my own actuator items in an effort to save overall cost. Van's offers a kit but I knew that I could build something just as good or better.
I calculated the forces that would act on the flaps at 110mph and back calculated through the linkage system to determine what my actuated force needed to be.
I was able to source an actuator at roughly 25% of the Van's cost. I bought a controller from Aircraft Spruce that is programmable for position. The anchor brackets and pivot points are similar in design to Van's but fabricated by me. I had to go through a little bit of a learning curve with the actuator because the information supplied with it for wiring was non-existent. The flap controller had a great amount of information supplied with it.

-Determined correct wiring from potentiometer to flap controller
---I had to open up the actuator to find out which wires were for the power and which wires were the feedback from voltage drop across the resistor
---The flap position sensor in the controller diagram is representative of the potentiometer in the a actuator
-Temporarily wired and tested flap actuator and controller
