Brief Description:  Aircraft weight and engine start

- Used blocks and sheets of wood to level the airplane and used sheets of wood to distribute the load over the scales evenly. The scales were zeroed out with the wood sheets on top so that the weight of the wood was not calculated into the airplane weight. This method was necessary because the wheel surface directly on the carbon fiber scale top was causing the scale to bow and produced irregular readings.
- Weights at each wheel were recorded and distances to each wheel were measured from a datum line set 60” forward of the wing leading edges
- Right main wheel: 411.4# @ 82.50” = 33940.5 in-lbs
- Left main wheel: 410.4# @ 82.25” = 33755.4 in-lbs
- Front wheel: 234.3# @ 28.00” = 6560.4 in-lbs
- Total weight = 1056.1#
- Total moment = 74256.3 in-lbs
- Center of Gravity = total moment/total weight = 70.31”
- Fuel was added to the tanks and the engine was started. The video was uploaded to YouTube at the following link:
