Brief Description:  radio check-xponder-map lights

Worked a lot but did not get too much done. Had the devil of a time with the transponder. Dick Isherwood attaced a bnc connector to the transponder antenna. I attached the transponder antenna cable to the rear of the transponder tray.

That is where the trouble started. The read of the transponder tray has a plate which is removable. I removed it to attach the antenna to it. I had to remove the tray from the stack in order to remove the plate from the back of the tray. When I reinstalled the plate, I put it in backwards. Of course I did not discover this mistake until the tray had been reinstalled into the stack.

I removed the tray from the stack. Then I removed the plate and turned it around, and installed the plate on the rear of the tray, then installed the tray back into the stack. That is when I realized that the D connector on the plate is upside down!

The D connector is held onto the rear of ths plate by a metal piece through which two smal, perhaps size 6 or even 4 screws. I lost one of the screws. I even climbed into the airplane to look for the missing screw without success.

So, at the end of the night we did not get to test the tranpsonder installation because it is not complete. I will have to find a replacement for the missing screw.

We did test the SL 30 Com radio and were able to recieve ATIS from KORL on 127.25. That is we are able to recieve it from on set of headphone jacks, the other set does not work.

The PTT switches, all 3 of them, will not work.

I did test the map lights for the pax, one on either side. The map light for the pilots seat does not work however.
