I determined that the SL30 was giving a "Com Failure" error because the fuse for the Nav side of the radio was blown. It was a 2 amp fuse which is what the install manual calls for.There is a 3 amp low blow fuse. I read that there has been an update for the manual which requires a 5 amp fuse, although that might have been for the Com side I used a 5 amp fuse and the "Com Failure" message went away.
I tried to call Stein at Steinair to ask about the fuse size but nobody answered the phone there.
I traced the problem of the clock not working. The ground wire was broken at the splice of the wires that came with the clock harness and the extension. I am a bit discouraged by that. I will cut open the shrink wrap and redo the splice another time. It is late (10pm).
I strapped the metal oil cooler door I am fabricating to the side of the cylinder of the compressor with a rachet strap in order to shape it.
