Brief Description:  audio panel, backup batt, EIS

Worked on the remaining loose wires.

I emailed Sandy at GRT today to ask about the remaining EIS wires, the audio out, serial out, and serial in. She advised that the audio out can be wired to an audio panel, but most people don't like that. It would beep everytime there is an out of limits indication on the EIS. I removed the audio wire from the EIS connector.

The serial in is not used. I removed it as well.

The serial out is connected to the green/blk wire that comes from the EFIS connector. I connected the EIS green/blk to the EFIS green/blk. The EIS should now be sending engine info to the GRT Sport EFIS.

I noted that the instructions for the backup battery indicated that you can move the mounting legs to any orientation. I moved them so that they will fit against the airframe rib while the battery is upright and the screws that access the interior of the battery container are on top.

I noticed that in the position I intend to mount the backup battery box it will cover the hole where wires enter that compartment. I drilled a new hole.

I ran the backup battery wir bundle from the compartment where the back up battery will be, through the hole I made, and up to the spar. I will finish that wire run later.

Dick Isherwood stopped by at this point.

We decided to run the pilot PTT to pins in the J1 connector on the audio panel. We removed the backshell with some difficulty since the goo did its job of strain relief very well. I had to pick out the goo to get to the wires. I discovered that I had miswired the pilot mic wiring, having placed the three pins for that function in the holes in the middle row instead of the bottom row. It took a while to dig out the goo and remove the pins, we had to cut the wire on one and install another pin on the wire end. I installed those pins in the proper place.

Meanwhile, we realized that the PTT pins were already wired and that we would have to connect the pilot PTT from the stick to the wires already in connector. It seems best to
