Brief Description:  Panel fitting, antenna cable connectors

Dick Isherwood assisted. We test fitted the panel and realized that we had to remove one of the angle pieces on the radio stack by drilling out the rivets in order to trim the piece so that it would fit. We did that.

I used a cutoff wheel to trim a notch into the panel support piece to make the clock/gmeter fit. We realized that I will also have to trim a bit to make the big red light fit.

We attached the end connectors for NAV 1, COM1 and transponder. The ICOM radio, COM2 is very difficult to work with because you cannot remove the connector from the tray easily. We decided not to remove the connector from the tray in order to attached the cable, because we did not know how we would reinstall it after the cable was attached and the tray in the aircraft. I hate that radio.

After we attached a connector to the end of a 6 foot piece of RG400 I ran the cable from the area behind the radio stack back to the place where the COM antenna on the starboard side will be located. I don't k now if there is room in that run for two more RG400 cables....NAV1 and COM2. I hope that there is at least room for one more cable on the starboard side. It is essential to have the NAV1 cable run out to the right wing.

A question arose as to how to attach the marker beacon antenna to the PMA 8000 audio panel. I looked online and in the installation manual and could not determine that.
